New research findings on the relationship between acupuncture treatment and mental health have been released

The Japan Acupuncturists Association has recently announced the results of its "Survey Project on Suicide-Related Events in Acupuncture Clinical Practice." The findings were made public during a press conference held at the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare press club.

In recent years, an increasing number of people have been utilizing acupuncture treatment to maintain their physical and mental well-being. This survey was conducted with the aim of clarifying the current situation regarding how acupuncturists address patients' mental health and concerns related to suicide during their daily clinical practice.

The results of the survey suggest that acupuncturists may play a role in the early detection of patients' physical and mental distress and in connecting them to specialized medical institutions. This has brought renewed attention to the fact that acupuncture treatment plays an important role not only in treating physical pain but also in providing mental care.

Based on these survey results, the Japan Acupuncturists Association plans to continue promoting training and information sharing so that acupuncturists can provide more appropriate support in mental health care. Expectations are high for future initiatives regarding how acupuncture can contribute to protecting people's mental health as part of community-based medical care.
