METI strengthens support for global talent internships
The Japan Association of New Economy (JANE) has announced that it will hold a business seminar aimed at securing science and engineering talent in the fields of IT, AI, and semiconductors. This seminar is designed to teach companies how to utilize the "Global South – Japan Tech Talent Internship Program" promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
Currently, the Japanese IT industry is facing a shortage of engineers with advanced specialized knowledge, making the acquisition of excellent talent from overseas an urgent priority. In particular, collaboration with emerging countries, known as the Global South, is considered crucial for accelerating technological innovation in Japan.
In this program, concrete procedures will be introduced on how companies can accept overseas students for internships and connect them to future employment. Participants will be able to learn how to effectively utilize government support systems.
JANE continues its activities to deepen understanding of digital business and IT technology. Through this initiative, it is expected that Japanese companies will be able to connect with excellent talent from around the world and enhance their international competitiveness.
