Recommendations Published for Establishing Appropriate Rules on the Use of Generative AI in Medical Papers
In recent years, rapidly evolving generative AI technology has come to be used in various aspects of our daily lives. This trend is no exception in the field of medical research, where the use of generative AI is increasing for tasks such as writing papers, organizing literature, and peer review.
In response to this situation, Health ISAC Japan has published new recommendations for the appropriate use of generative AI in medical papers. While AI is a convenient tool that aids in efficient research, there are many issues that must be handled with caution, such as the accuracy of information, copyright, and ethical concerns.
These recommendations provide guidelines on how researchers should use AI and what points they should be mindful of. In particular, it is emphasized that because medical papers directly affect people's health and the quality of medical care, ensuring the reliability of information is of the utmost importance.
Moving forward, the medical research field will be challenged with how to maintain research transparency and accountability while leveraging the convenience of AI. These recommendations will serve as an important step toward making medical research in Japan safer and more reliable.
