Technology media outlet "Gizmodo Japan" celebrates its 20th anniversary
The technology-focused web media outlet "Gizmodo Japan" reached a major milestone on July 31, 2026, marking 20 years since its launch.
Since its start in 2006, the media outlet has covered a wide range of topics, including the latest gadget information, internet trends, and news related to science and technology. These 20 years, spent alongside readers and writers, have been deeply intertwined with the development of Japan's digital culture.
To commemorate this 20th anniversary, a special project is underway in which the writers who have contributed articles over the years look back on their past work. They reflect that they have focused not only on introducing products and technologies, but also on how the lives and society of the "people" who use them have changed.
Moving forward, Gizmodo Japan plans to continue disseminating new information while valuing the perspective of how technology impacts our daily lives.
As a media outlet that has grown alongside the spread of the internet, many readers are watching to see what new initiatives it will undertake as it looks toward the next 10 or 20 years.
