Price explosion in Vienna: 40,000 euros for one night during Eurovision
Vienna will host the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in May 2026, and the Austrian capital has already begun to see a sharp rise in accommodation prices. With the expectation of tens of thousands of fans arriving, the high demand has led to exceptional offers that exceed the budgets of most visitors.
One of the most extreme examples is a spacious apartment with seven beds near the general hospital in Vienna, which was offered for over 40,000 euros for one night for just two people. The surprise is that the price remains the same whether the apartment is booked for the final night on May 16 or for any other date.
However, other properties show increases directly related to the competition. A new accommodation was listed on booking.com for around 8,500 euros per night for two people during the Eurovision weekend on Friday and Saturday nights, while the price sharply drops outside this period to a maximum of 298 euros per night.
Small apartments are also witnessing significant jumps. In the Leopoldstadt area, the cost of a 50 square meter apartment reaches 2,000 euros per night during Eurovision week, while its price in June does not exceed 405 euros at most. Luxury hotels are following the same trend, with one famous hotel charging around 1,600 euros per night for two people during the event, compared to about 1,100 euros before or after.
Nevertheless, there are still options available for those on a limited budget. Beds in shared rooms can be found for less than 50 euros per night, along with a wide range of options under 300 euros per night for two people. However, with the sharp rise in prices across the city, securing affordable accommodation during Eurovision 2026 in Vienna will be a real challenge for many visitors.
