GroenLinks and PvdA are paving the way for a united party!
Members of the GroenLinks and PvdA parties have begun voting on a preliminary decision to form a united party, ahead of the voting scheduled for the joint conference on June 21. This early step comes in response to the announcement of early elections that may be held on October 29.
Despite the ongoing voting, the formation of the new party will not be completed in time to participate in the upcoming elections as a unified entity.
The establishment of a new party requires a special conference to approve the party's name and constitution, and this conference was scheduled to be held in 2026 after the municipal elections.
Therefore, the two parties will contest the upcoming elections under the current joint name "GroenLinks-PvdA". Members will also be asked to make an official decision on presenting a unified list and electoral program, as they did in the previous parliamentary elections in 2023, when the vast majority voted in favor of it.
