Odido data leak: Millions of customer information exposed on the dark web
A large number of Odido customers' personal data was subjected to a massive cyber attack, where hackers published sensitive information on the dark web. The company refused to pay any ransom, while the hackers threatened to release more data in 16 days.
A group of hackers known as Shinyhunters claims to have stolen data from over 10 million customers, while Odido states that the number of affected customers is only 6.2 million. The leaked information includes names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and detailed notes from customer service.
Among the published data are 275,000 bank account numbers, which are highly valuable information for financial fraud operations. In total, information about 430,000 individuals and 290,000 companies has been revealed, including sensitive details such as unpaid bills, health status, and records of deceased customers.
Odido stated that it consulted cybersecurity experts and government officials, confirming its decision not to negotiate or surrender to ransom demands. The company also confirmed that it is taking steps to address the breach and protect its customers.
Currently, there is no official way for customers affected by Odido to check if their data has been leaked, leaving millions of people vulnerable to identity theft and other cybercrimes.
