Last chance: Vienna annual ticket for 365 euros before it disappears in 2026
Vienna is preparing for significant changes in public transport ticket prices. Starting from January 1, 2026, the cost of the popular annual ticket will rise from 365 euros to 467 euros. This increase of 102 euros marks the end of the fixed price that allowed residents to travel unlimited in the city for one euro a day.
However, passengers can still take advantage of the cheaper price. Anyone can purchase a new annual ticket before the end of 2025 and get the old price of 365 euros for an additional year. This option is available to both new customers and those who cancel their current card and buy a new one.
Current ticket holders can cancel their subscription after seven months, with a processing fee of 30 euros, and then apply for a new annual ticket at a discounted price. This option is available until December 10, 2025, online or through the Wiener Linien app, and until December 31 in Wiener Linien stores. Cancellation before seven months is only allowed in special cases such as moving out of Vienna or losing a job.
Wiener Linien has confirmed that individual and daily tickets purchased before the price increase will remain valid until June 30, 2026. The same applies to parking tickets. Additionally, starting in 2026, digital tickets via the app or online store will be slightly cheaper, with the annual ticket costing 461 euros, while the individual ticket will drop to 3 euros instead of 3.20 euros.
Starting from 2027, ticket prices will be reviewed annually according to the plans of the city of Vienna. For many residents of the capital, this year represents the last opportunity to take advantage of the famous ticket priced at 365 euros before the increase takes effect.
