Earthquake in North Sumatra felt in Peninsular Malaysia
A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck the northern part of Sumatra, Indonesia, today. Tremors from the natural disaster were also felt by residents in several areas along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
Local authorities reported that the tremors caused brief anxiety among residents in high-rise buildings. However, no major property damage or injuries have been reported so far in the affected areas.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department is monitoring the situation closely to ensure public safety. They stated that the tremors felt were a side effect of the earthquake that occurred in the neighboring country.
The public is advised to remain calm and obtain the latest information from official government sources. Authorities also reminded residents not to spread fake news that could cause panic among the community.
