Early Mental Health Assistance Program Introduced in Penang Schools
A new initiative has been launched in schools around Penang to address mental health issues among students. This program is specifically designed to provide training to educators so that they are more sensitive to the emotional well-being of pupils in school.
Through this program, teachers will be equipped with the skills to identify early signs of mental health problems. Furthermore, they will be taught the correct ways to approach students who are facing stress or personal problems more effectively.
The main goal of this program is to build confidence in teachers so that they can listen to students' expressions with more empathy. With this support in place, it is hoped that schools will become safer and more conducive places for all students to share their problems.
This step is seen as an important effort to ensure that students' mental health is not overlooked. The authorities hope that this program can help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues and increase awareness within the education community in Malaysia.
