Ministry of Health Issues Warning on Nationwide Rise in Dengue Cases

The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) has issued an official warning regarding the significant rise in dengue cases across the country. This situation is concerning to the authorities as it shows a consistent upward trend compared to last year.

Based on the latest data as of August 15, Malaysia has recorded a 56.2 percent increase in dengue cases compared to the same period last year. This figure indicates that the threat of diseases carried by Aedes mosquitoes remains a serious public health issue in Malaysia.

The ministry advises the public to be more vigilant regarding the cleanliness of their residential surroundings. Preventive measures such as ensuring there is no stagnant water in flower pots, used tires, or empty containers are crucial to prevent mosquito breeding.

In addition, residents are encouraged to use mosquito repellent or wear clothing that covers their limbs if they are outdoors during the mosquitoes' active hours. If experiencing symptoms such as high fever, joint pain, or rashes, the public is urged to immediately seek treatment at a nearby clinic or hospital.

Cooperation from every level of society is the key to curbing the spread of this outbreak. The MOH will continue to monitor the situation from time to time to ensure the health and safety of the Malaysian people are always protected.
