57 Malaysians Uncontactable Following Flash Floods in Nepal
A total of 57 Malaysians are reported to be uncontactable after flash floods struck the Rasuwa district in Nepal last Wednesday. This tragic incident has caused widespread damage in the area and sparked concern among the victims' families back home.
According to initial reports, the natural disaster has resulted in at least 389 deaths. Furthermore, nearly 1,000 people are reported to be still missing, making the situation in the affected areas highly critical and difficult for rescue teams to access.
Local authorities in Nepal are currently actively conducting search and rescue operations to locate the missing victims. However, these efforts are facing significant challenges due to poor weather conditions and severe infrastructure damage caused by the strong flood currents.
The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation and collaborating with Nepalese authorities to obtain the latest information regarding the status of the Malaysians involved. The embassy is also working to ensure the safety of those in the disaster area.
Members of the public who have family members in Nepal are advised to remain in contact with the embassy for assistance or further information. The Malaysian government is committed to providing the necessary support to ensure the safety of our citizens abroad is always upheld.
