AI Company Anthropic Reveals Election Manipulation Attempt in Malaysia
Leading artificial intelligence (AI) company, Anthropic, recently revealed that their AI software, Claude, had been misused in an election manipulation operation targeting voters in Malaysia.
According to the report, irresponsible parties used AI technology to build a voter targeting system that covered all 222 parliamentary constituencies across the country. This system is believed to have been aimed at influencing public opinion and voting strategies through automatically generated information.
Anthropic stated that they took swift action to block the accounts involved as soon as the suspicious activity was detected. The company emphasized that they have strict policies prohibiting the use of their technology for the purpose of fraud or the manipulation of democratic processes.
Cybersecurity authorities in Malaysia are currently monitoring the situation more closely. The use of AI to spread misinformation or manipulate voter data has become a major concern for many countries, including Malaysia, in efforts to protect the integrity of the electoral system.
As a precautionary measure, the public is advised to be more cautious with information received on social media. Internet users are encouraged to always verify the authenticity of news from official sources before believing or sharing it with others.
