Malaysia Aims to Become Regional Artificial Intelligence Hub
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo asserted that Malaysia must develop its own technology and intellectual property to become an Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub in the region. He emphasized that the country's digital infrastructure advancement must be supported by robust local innovation.
According to Gobind, merely relying on foreign technology is insufficient to achieve the country's long-term goals. Instead, Malaysia needs to cultivate local talent capable of creating its own technological solutions so as not to fall behind in global competition.
This step aims to ensure that Malaysia has a resilient and self-reliant digital ecosystem. By building its own intellectual property, the country can reduce dependence on external parties and increase the overall value of the nation's digital economy.
The government is currently actively drafting strategies to empower the technology sector to attract foreign investors and support local companies. The main focus is to ensure that every infrastructure advancement built can be fully utilized by the people and local industries.
In conclusion, the effort to build its own technology is a crucial step for Malaysia to strengthen its position in the global digital economy. With the right support, Malaysia has great potential to become a primary reference center for AI development in Southeast Asia.
