Sabah Needs 1,500 Additional Quarters for Health Workers
The Sabah state government is currently facing a major challenge in providing sufficient residential facilities for medical staff. Recent reports indicate that the state requires at least 1,500 additional housing units to accommodate the needs of health workers across the state.
The shortage of comfortable housing has become one of the main issues frequently raised by workers in the health sector. This situation not only complicates their daily lives but is also feared to affect the quality of services provided to the local community.
This shortage of quarters is more pronounced in rural and interior areas, where access to rental homes or accommodation facilities is limited. Many health workers are forced to bear high costs of living or live far from their workplaces due to the lack of sufficient government quarters.
Authorities are currently examining these needs to ensure the welfare of health workers is maintained. Providing better housing is considered an essential step as an incentive to retain skilled personnel in the medical sector in Sabah.
It is hoped that this issue will receive immediate attention from the relevant ministries so that the planning for the construction of quarters can be implemented more effectively. Complete facilities will help health workers provide more efficient services for the well-being of the people in the state.
