Ministry of Education Collaborates to Address School Closures Due to Haze
The Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) asserts that any decision to close schools due to the haze issue will be made collectively. This measure is taken to ensure that the safety and health of students remain the ministry's top priority.
Minister of Education, Fadhlina Sidek, stated that the ministry will work closely with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability. This inter-agency cooperation is crucial for monitoring air quality nationwide before any drastic action is taken.
Decisions regarding school closures will not be made hastily. Authorities will first examine the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in the affected areas. If air quality levels reach unhealthy or hazardous levels, a closure order will be issued to prevent health risks to the school community.
Furthermore, schools are also requested to strictly adhere to the guidelines established by the ministry. Outdoor classroom activities must be limited if air conditions deteriorate to protect students from the adverse effects of the haze.
In conclusion, the public, especially parents, is advised to stay updated through official government channels. The MOE is committed to ensuring that learning sessions take place in a safe environment for all students in Malaysia.
