Ministry of Health Takes Immediate Steps to Address Specialist Shortage in Sabah
The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) is currently implementing several immediate measures to address the shortage of medical specialists in the state of Sabah. Minister of Health, Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, stated that this effort is a priority to ensure that the local population has access to better and higher-quality healthcare services.
According to Dr. Dzulkefly, the ministry will place more resident specialists in hospitals across Sabah. This move aims to reduce the workload in government hospitals and ensure that patients do not have to wait too long to receive specialized treatment.
In addition to the placement of specialists, the ministry is also examining various long-term strategies to retain medical personnel in the region. This includes improving medical facilities and providing career support for doctors serving in the state.
This effort is seen as a government commitment to bridge the healthcare service gap between Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah. It is hoped that with the addition of these specialists, the quality of healthcare in Sabah will continue to improve for the well-being of the local people.
