Air Quality Worsens: 38 Areas in Malaysia Record Unhealthy Readings
Air quality in Malaysia was reported to be deteriorating on Tuesday morning, with 38 areas across the country recording Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at an unhealthy level. This situation is worrying residents as haze has begun to blanket many areas in the Peninsula as well as East Malaysia.
Sarawak is reported to be the area most severely affected by this haze phenomenon. Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely to ensure that safety measures can be taken to protect public health, especially for children and the elderly.
The public is advised to reduce physical activities outdoors throughout the period when air quality is at an unhealthy level. In addition, the use of face masks is highly encouraged for those who need to be in open areas to avoid respiratory problems caused by fine dust particles in the air.
The Ministry of Health Malaysia has also issued a reminder for the public to drink plenty of plain water and to seek treatment immediately if experiencing symptoms such as coughing, colds, or difficulty breathing. These precautionary measures are important to reduce the adverse effects of the haze on public health.
As of now, the authorities are still monitoring weather developments and the source of the haze. The public is advised to stay updated through official news channels and the Department of Environment website to obtain accurate information regarding air quality in their respective areas.
