MA63 Needs to Be a National Narrative, Not Just a Sabah and Sarawak Issue
Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, emphasized that the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) should not be regarded as an issue that only involves Sabah and Sarawak. He stated that the agreement is an important part of the national narrative for all Malaysians.
According to him, the understanding of MA63 needs to be extended to all levels of society across the country. This is because the essence of the agreement is the foundation for the formation of Malaysia as a strong and united federation.
He added that viewing MA63 merely as a regional issue is an inaccurate perspective. Instead, the spirit of this agreement must be embraced by all parties to ensure that the justice and rights of every state within the federation are respected and well-protected.
In conclusion, this statement emphasizes the importance of unity in understanding the history of the nation's formation. By making MA63 a national narrative, it can further strengthen the relationship between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak for a more stable future for the country.
