Malaysia Offers Aircraft and Helicopter Assistance to Extinguish Forest Fires in Indonesia
Malaysia has expressed its readiness to extend assistance to Indonesia to address the increasingly concerning issue of forest fires. This offer includes the provision of aerial assets such as aircraft and helicopters, as well as teams of experts experienced in firefighting operations.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomed the offer of assistance from the Malaysian government. This cooperation is seen as an important step in strengthening bilateral relations between the neighboring countries, especially in addressing environmental issues that often affect air quality in the region.
In addition to aerial assets, Malaysia has also offered technical and logistical expertise to assist Indonesian authorities on the ground. The teams offered possess specialized skills in controlling large-scale forest fires that are difficult to access by land.
This move is part of ASEAN's ongoing efforts to address the issue of transboundary haze that frequently occurs due to forest fires. Close cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia is expected to reduce the risk of fires continuing to spread and affecting the health of residents in both countries.
For the time being, authorities from both countries are discussing technical details to ensure that the assistance can be deployed immediately. This swift action demonstrates Malaysia's commitment to supporting Indonesia's efforts in safeguarding the safety and well-being of the environment in the Southeast Asian region.
