Malaysia Targets RM50 Billion in Medical Device Exports by 2030
The Malaysian government has set an ambitious target to increase the country's medical device export value to over RM50 billion by 2030. This announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to strengthen Malaysia's position in the global health technology market.
The medical device sector is currently one of the main contributors to the national economy. With the increasing global demand for hospital equipment and health technology, Malaysia intends to leverage local expertise to meet the needs of the international market.
To achieve this target, the government will continue to provide support to local companies to enhance their innovation and product quality. This step is expected to attract more foreign investment into the country and create high-skilled job opportunities for Malaysians.
In addition, focus will also be placed on research and development (R&D) in the field of medical technology. Through collaboration between the public and private sectors, Malaysia hopes to produce products that are more advanced and competitive on the global stage.
Overall, this initiative demonstrates the government's commitment to making Malaysia a major hub for the medical device industry in the region. The success of this target will not only boost the national economy but will also position Malaysia as a key player in the global health supply chain.
