Malaysia and Singapore Test RTS Link Project Emergency Procedures
Malaysia and Singapore have initiated a strategic collaboration to ensure the safety of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project connecting Johor Bahru and Singapore. Both countries are currently conducting tests for seven Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to address potential emergency situations that may occur at the border.
This step is taken to ensure smooth operations once the rail service begins full operations in the future. The tests involve coordination between security agencies from both countries to handle issues such as technical disruptions, passenger health problems, and security threats within the trains or stations.
Furthermore, this exercise aims to test the efficiency of communication between Malaysian and Singaporean authorities. With clear SOPs in place, any incident occurring in the middle of the cross-border route can be managed swiftly without compromising passenger safety.
The RTS Link project is a significant initiative expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion at the Johor Causeway. Once completed, this public transport system will facilitate the travel of thousands of workers and tourists who commute between the two countries daily.
Overall, these SOP tests demonstrate the high commitment of Malaysia and Singapore to maintaining public safety. This close cooperation not only increases public confidence in the new transport system but also strengthens diplomatic ties between the two neighboring countries.
