Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is the government's primary strategy to meet the demand for skilled labor in Malaysia's high-tech sector. This step is being taken to ensure that local graduates possess skills relevant to the needs of modern industries that are growing rapidly.
According to him, the government is currently focusing on closer cooperation between educational institutions and industry giants. Through this collaboration, the TVET curriculum will be aligned with the latest technologies used by international companies, thereby increasing the employability of graduates as soon as they complete their studies.
Furthermore, the government also aims to change the public's perception of TVET, which was previously often considered a second choice. With investments in modern equipment and higher-quality instructor training, TVET is now becoming a career path that promises competitive salaries and broad job opportunities in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and renewable energy.
To support this agenda, several new initiatives will be introduced to attract more young people to join the technical field.
