54 Malaysians Reported Missing Following Flash Floods in Nepal
A total of 54 Malaysians have been reported unreachable following the flash flood disaster that recently struck the Rasuwa district in Nepal. This figure marks a significant increase compared to initial reports, which stated that only 17 Malaysians had lost contact in the area.
Local authorities in Nepal are actively conducting search and rescue operations in the areas affected by the major flooding. Poor weather conditions and damaged infrastructure in the mountainous region are hindering rescue teams from reaching the location where the group of Malaysians is situated.
The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently working closely with the embassy in Nepal to obtain the latest information regarding the status of the affected Malaysians. The ministry is also striving to ensure the safety of all citizens located in the disaster zone.
Families of the affected victims are advised to remain calm and obtain official information from Wisma Putra. The Malaysian government will continue to monitor the situation in Nepal from time to time to ensure that appropriate assistance can be provided to those in need.
