Search Operation for 17 Malaysians in Nepal Remains Unsuccessful
Efforts to locate 17 Malaysians reported missing following flash floods in the Rasuwa district, Nepal, are still ongoing. Rescue teams have utilized helicopters to survey the affected area, but unfortunately, no traces or clues regarding the group's whereabouts have been found thus far.
The flash flood occurred suddenly in a mountainous region that is a popular destination for hikers and tourists. Unpredictable weather conditions and challenging terrain are hindering the search and rescue operations being conducted by local authorities in Nepal.
The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently working closely with Nepalese authorities to monitor the situation from time to time. The embassy is also on standby to provide necessary consular assistance to the families of the victims involved in this incident.
The search operation will resume as soon as weather conditions permit to ensure the safety of the rescue teams. Authorities urge the public not to spread unverified information to avoid causing confusion for the victims' families.
Members of the public who have family members in the area are advised to stay in contact with Wisma Putra for the latest updates. The government is committed to doing its best in the mission to find the Malaysians who are still missing there.
