Malaysia Must Become a Creator of Technology, Not Just a User
Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, recently called for the nation to shift from merely being a consumer of technology to becoming a creator of technology. He emphasized that Malaysia must develop the capacity to create, own, and master its own technology to ensure the country's future progress.
According to him, reliance on foreign technology is no longer sufficient to face increasingly challenging global economic hurdles. Therefore, Malaysia needs to invest more in research and development to produce innovations capable of competing on the international stage.
This step is seen as a crucial strategy to strengthen Malaysia's economic position in the digital and modern manufacturing sectors. By mastering technology, Malaysia can not only reduce import costs but also become a key player in the global technology supply chain.
To achieve this goal, the government will focus on education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This effort aims to produce a young generation that is skilled and capable of creating creative and effective technological solutions.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister's aspiration is a major step toward transforming the nation's economic landscape. With support from various parties, Malaysia is expected to be able to go further as a competitive and highly innovative nation.
