55 Malaysians Still Missing After Major Floods in Nepal
A total of 55 Malaysians are reported to be unreachable 10 days after floods and landslides struck the Rasuwa district in Nepal. The tragic incident occurred on August 26 near the Nepal-China border.
The natural disaster was triggered by heavy rainfall, which caused the water level of the Trishuli River to rise drastically. The strong flood currents destroyed many areas along the riverbanks, effectively cutting off communication and transportation routes in the affected region.
Local authorities in Nepal are currently actively conducting search and rescue operations in the affected areas. However, these efforts are facing difficulties due to the challenging terrain and infrastructure damage caused by the landslides.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Nepal is closely monitoring the situation and is working with local authorities to obtain the latest information. The families of the victims are advised to remain calm and stay in contact with the embassy for further updates regarding the status of their family members.
The Malaysian government has also expressed its commitment to providing the necessary assistance to ensure the safety of our citizens. The public is urged not to spread unverified information to avoid confusion while search operations are still ongoing.
