Ti Lian Ker's Perspective on the Role of PAS in Malaysian Politics
Former MCA leader, Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, recently issued a statement regarding the position of the PAS party within the country's political landscape. According to him, PAS is a party that will remain relevant and possesses strong influence among voters in Malaysia.
Ti Lian Ker stated that for a long time, many parties have used PAS as a form of threat or a 'bogeyman' to intimidate non-Muslim voters. This strategy is often employed by politicians to gain support during election seasons by portraying the party as something to be avoided.
However, he emphasized that such an approach may no longer be effective in the future. Instead, he suggested that all parties need to be more realistic in facing the current political reality in Malaysia.
He stressed that other parties must choose whether to befriend or at least be prepared to manage relations with PAS in a mature manner. According to him, it is better to find ways of cooperation or effective management rather than continuing to make the party a subject of political polemics.
In conclusion, this statement reflects the need for a more pragmatic political approach. In an increasingly challenging political climate, a deep understanding of every political party is essential to ensure that the stability and harmony of the country are preserved.
