Families of 55 Malaysians Missing in Nepal Seek Government Assistance
A group of family members of 55 Malaysians reported missing due to glacial flash floods in Nepal recently visited Wisma Putra. They came to request immediate intervention from the Prime Minister to assist in the search and rescue operations currently underway in the disaster area.
The sudden flash flood incident has left many hikers and tourists trapped. The families expressed deep concern for the fate of their loved ones, who have remained unreachable since the disaster struck the mountainous region of Nepal.
In addition to requesting search assistance, the families also asked for a moratorium or temporary suspension on any matters related to the debts or financial commitments of the victims involved. This step is considered crucial to alleviate the burden on families who are currently facing a very difficult situation.
The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently working closely with Nepalese authorities to obtain the latest information regarding the status of the victims. Rescue efforts in the challenging mountainous terrain are continuing, carried out by local rescue teams with the assistance of the embassy.
The Malaysian government is committed to ensuring that the welfare and safety of its citizens affected abroad remain a priority. The public is advised to continue following official updates from Wisma Putra to obtain accurate information regarding this situation.
