Ministry of Health to Place Resident Medical Specialists in Sabah Hospitals
The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) has announced plans to place resident medical specialists in several selected hospitals in Sabah. This step is being taken to improve the quality of health services and ensure that residents in rural areas have better access to specialist treatment.
According to the ministry, the placement of these resident specialists aims to reduce the burden on patients who need to be referred to major hospitals in primary cities. With permanent specialists at district hospitals, patients will no longer need to travel long distances to receive specialized treatment for chronic illnesses or minor surgeries.
Furthermore, this initiative is part of the government's efforts to address the issue of specialist workforce shortages in the state. The ministry will ensure that medical facilities at the hospitals in question are upgraded to support the needs of the specialists who will be serving there.
This measure is expected to have a positive impact on the public health system in Sabah as a whole. The MOH hopes that this placement can be implemented in stages in the near future to ensure the continuity of more efficient medical services for the people.
