Air Quality Deteriorating: Malaysia Faces Haze Threat
Air quality in several areas of Malaysia has reportedly been deteriorating recently due to the haze phenomenon affecting the country. This situation has caused the public to begin feeling the effects of air pollution, including a strong smell of smoke and increasingly limited visibility in major urban areas.
Environmental authorities are closely monitoring Air Pollutant Index (API) readings nationwide. Several areas have recorded readings at unhealthy levels, which pose health risks to the population, especially for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory problems.
The main cause of this haze is believed to stem from open burning activities in surrounding areas as well as prolonged dry weather conditions. This phenomenon not only affects the daily activities of residents but also impacts the economic and transportation sectors due to visibility disruptions on highways and at airports.
As a precautionary measure, the Ministry of Health Malaysia has advised the public to reduce physical activities outdoors. People are also encouraged to wear face masks and ensure adequate water intake to avoid health problems associated with hot and hazy weather.
The government is currently working with relevant parties to address this issue more effectively. The public is advised to stay updated on the latest developments regarding air quality through official channels and to avoid spreading unverified information to prevent confusion among the community.
