Seven Areas in Malaysia Record Unhealthy Air Pollutant Index Readings
Air quality in several areas in Malaysia is reported to have deteriorated this morning. As of 9 a.m. today, a total of seven areas across the country have recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at an unhealthy level.
According to the authorities, an API reading between 101 and 200 is categorized as an unhealthy level. This condition can have an impact on public health, especially for sensitive groups such as children and the elderly.
For comparison, an API reading between 0 and 50 is considered good air quality, while a reading of 51 to 100 is at a moderate level. The authorities are constantly monitoring air quality from time to time to ensure the safety of the residents is guaranteed.
The public is advised to reduce physical activities outdoors throughout this period of unhealthy air quality. In addition, residents are also encouraged to wear face masks if they need to go out and drink plenty of plain water.
The public can visit the official website of the Department of Environment to obtain the latest information regarding API readings in their respective areas. Precautionary measures are important to avoid more serious health problems due to haze or air pollution.
