Malaysia's Contingent to Glasgow Commonwealth Games with Moderate Expectations
Malaysia will be sending its smallest contingent to the Commonwealth Games in three decades for the event scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 2. This decision sees only 59 athletes representing the country in Glasgow.
Of that total, 37 are able-bodied athletes, while the remainder are para-athletes. This small number of participants marks a significant change compared to previous editions of the Commonwealth Games.
The national sports management has set moderate expectations for this contingent. The main focus is to ensure that every selected athlete gives their best performance on the international stage, despite the limited number of participants.
This step was taken to ensure that quality of participation is prioritized over quantity. Although the size of the contingent is smaller, hopes remain pinned on the competing athletes to bring glory to Malaysia in Glasgow.
