Health Expert Urges Government to Review MediAsas Protection Scheme
A prominent health expert, Professor Datuk Dr. Syed Aljunid, has urged the government to cancel the MediAsas health protection scheme. He stated that the scheme has significant flaws that could undermine the public's access to fair medical treatment.
One of the main concerns raised is regarding the exclusion of pre-existing conditions. According to Dr. Syed, a policy that does not protect patients with chronic health records will burden those who most need the assistance of health insurance or takaful coverage.
Furthermore, he also criticized the seven-year waiting period requirement before the 'no look-back' policy takes effect. He argued that this excessively long period is impractical and makes it difficult for policyholders to easily make claims in the event of a health emergency.
This proposal was made to ensure that the national health protection system is more inclusive and affordable for all levels of society. Dr. Syed hopes that the authorities will re-examine the structure of this scheme so that it truly benefits the Malaysian people without burdensome conditions.
Overall, this issue has sparked an important debate regarding the direction of health protection in Malaysia. The public is now awaiting a response from the relevant ministry to ensure that national health policies continue to be improved for the general well-being.
