Passenger detained at Cancun airport with concealed ammunition
A passenger was recently detained at Cancun International Airport after being discovered with firearm cartridges in their luggage. The incident took place in Terminal 3, one of the busiest areas for international travelers in this popular tourist destination.
The discovery occurred during a routine check at the security checkpoints. While the suitcases were passing through the X-ray belt, security personnel noticed suspicious shapes inside one of the backpacks. Upon observing the detailed images, the agents decided to conduct a physical inspection of the luggage to verify the contents.
Upon opening the suitcase, National Guard officers confirmed the presence of several live cartridges hidden among the traveler's belongings. The passenger did not have the necessary permits to transport this type of material, which represents a violation of federal firearms and explosives laws in Mexico.
Following the discovery, the man was immediately arrested and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities. Now, the Public Ministry will conduct an investigation to determine the origin of the cartridges and the reason why the passenger was attempting to travel with them illegally.
This operation is part of the permanent surveillance measures carried out at the country's airports. The main objective of these actions is to guarantee the safety of all users and prevent the transport of dangerous objects that could jeopardize the peace of flights and airport facilities.
