The Government of Mexico invites CNTE teachers to a dialogue table
Mexican authorities have issued an official call for dialogue with teachers from the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE). The Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) and the Secretariat of the Interior (Segob) formally invited the union to a working group to discuss their demands. This invitation comes after a series of recent protests and tensions in Mexico City's Historic Center.
Last Monday, several incidents were recorded during the teachers' demonstrations in the country's capital. The clashes and mobilizations caused difficulties on the main streets and generated concern among citizens. In response to this situation, the federal government decided to open a space for communication to avoid further conflicts and seek peaceful solutions to the issues raised by the teaching profession.
The main objective of this dialogue table is to listen to the requests of the teachers, who are demanding improvements in their working conditions and changes to certain educational policies. Authorities hope that, through direct negotiation, agreements can be reached that benefit both education workers and the development of the national school system.
The Secretariat of the Interior highlighted that dialogue is the best tool for resolving political and social differences in a constructive manner. For its part, the SEP reiterated its willingness to work together with CNTE representatives. It is expected that logistical details and the exact date for this first official meeting between both parties will be defined in the coming days.
This approach represents an important step toward stabilizing the situation in Mexico City and ensuring that the right to education is not affected. Civil society and parents remain attentive to the results of these talks, hoping that school activities and daily life in the capital return to normal as soon as possible.
