The Mexican Government asks teachers to end the strike and return to classrooms
Mexico's Ministry of the Interior (Segob) has issued an official call to the teachers of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE). The main objective is for the teachers to end their national strike and return to schools to continue classes regularly.
The government proposes establishing a working group to seriously discuss the educators' demands. Among the most important topics is the review of USICAMM, which is the body in charge of teaching positions and careers, as well as possible changes to the pension system.
The authorities explained that it is essential to find a solution path that benefits both parties. However, they emphasized that the priority at this moment is to prevent students from losing more study days. Segob insists that dialogue is the best way to resolve any labor disagreement.
For their part, CNTE representatives are analyzing the government's proposal. It is expected that in the coming days, it will be determined whether the teachers agree to return to the classrooms while negotiations regarding their working conditions and social benefits continue.
