CDMX and Rappi Join Forces to Improve Household Recycling
The Mexico City Government, through the Ministry of the Environment (Sedema), has launched a new campaign to encourage waste separation. On this occasion, authorities have signed a collaboration agreement with the delivery company Rappi Turbo to bring educational information directly to citizens' homes.
The main objective of this alliance is to distribute recycling guides to the application's users. These guides contain clear and simple instructions on how to correctly sort waste. The project aims for people to learn to identify which materials can be reused and which must be permanently discarded.
With this initiative, the capital's government intends to promote the circular economy. This concept is based on processing materials, such as plastic, paper, and glass, to turn them into new products. In this way, the amount of waste reaching landfills is reduced and the city's environment is protected.
The digital platform's delivery workers will be responsible for delivering this informative material along with customers' orders. Authorities believe that using technology and delivery services is an efficient way to reach thousands of homes quickly and effectively.
Finally, Sedema highlighted that citizen participation is fundamental to the success of this program. By separating waste from home, the inhabitants of Mexico City contribute to creating a cleaner, more sustainable, and responsible capital regarding natural resources.
