In the economic and social sphere, relevant data on the state of the country was published. The 2026 edition of the 500 most important companies in Mexico highlights that large corporations generate more than 5 million jobs, despite the challenges of inflation. At the same time, the UN reported a historic drop in irregular migration in Mexico over the last year, a change driven by new restrictions in the United States.
Regarding political issues, the Federal Government seeks to reduce tension with the education sector. The Ministry of the Interior (Segob) and the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) formally invited teachers from the CNTE to a dialogue table. This proposal arises after the incidents and protests recently recorded in the Historic Center of Mexico City.
The fight against crime also marked the day with significant legal actions. The Attorney General's Office (FGR) dismantled a criminal network known as "El Caballito," which defrauded the treasury of 12 billion pesos through the use of false invoices. Additionally, authorities reported the incineration of more than 179 kilos of drugs seized in various national security operations.
However, violence remains a concern in several states. In Morelos, the murder of a businessman in Yautepec and an armed attack against a merchant leader in Cuernavaca, who is seriously injured, were reported. These events are part of a wave of violence that left two other fatalities in the state during the last few hours.
On the other hand, extreme weather caused emergencies in the capital and its surroundings. Heavy rains accompanied by hail severely affected the Cuajimalpa Borough and the municipality of Huixquilucan. Flooding paralyzed main roads, forcing authorities to activate the purple alert due to the high risk of material and personal damage.
In the north of the country, there is a political and security controversy. The governor of Chihuahua, Maru Campos, requested that the Federal Government explain the alleged presence of CIA agents in an operation against a drug laboratory in her state. Campos pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Migration Institute are responsible for clarifying this international situation.
Finally, in sports and entertainment news, the Argentine national team is concerned about the health of its goalkeeper, Emiliano "Dibu" Martínez, who suffered a fractured finger. In the world of show business, the young Naim Darrechi asked the media and the public not to involve Yeri Mua in the controversy generated after his recent arrest at the Mexico City airport.
