Drug deal monitored: police arrest two during delivery in Vienna
A drug deal in Vienna ended quickly after police noticed two men exchanging suspicious items, leading to the arrest of a 50-year-old man and the seizure of cocaine, marijuana, and cash during the operation.
The teams of the State Criminal Police Office in Vienna, Investigation and Research Department, monitored the suspects, two Serbian citizens aged 41 and 50, during the transaction. Investigators discovered 15.3 grams of cocaine, 13.6 grams of marijuana, and 610 euros in possession of the older man.
A subsequent search revealed 9.0 grams of cocaine in the possession of the 41-year-old man, who admitted to buying the drugs from an older compatriot. He was released after his confession, but he was reported for further legal proceedings.
The 50-year-old man was detained on suspicion of drug trafficking. Authorities confirmed that he was transferred to prison by order of the public prosecutor in Vienna.
The police confirmed that close surveillance and swift action prevented the continuation of the deal, and reinforced ongoing efforts to curb drug distribution in the city.
