Raid on an unlicensed beauty clinic in Vienna
Authorities in Vienna revealed on Thursday evening a beauty clinic suspected of operating illegally in the Simmering district. The raid was carried out after receiving complaints from residents, with police, along with emergency teams from the city of Wien, health and social law officials, and the market surveillance office, storming the clinic's location on Simmeringer Hauptstraße, which was a former dermatology clinic that had been unlawfully converted to provide cosmetic treatments.
During the raid, the police were surprised to find a 21-year-old employee injecting a substance into the upper lip of a 19-year-old client. There was also another client (23 years old) who confirmed to the police that she was suffering from complications after a previous procedure performed by another employee aged 36, and she had returned for a follow-up treatment. The two women refused to be examined by the paramedics and went to the hospital by themselves.
During the search of the clinic and the adjacent apartment that was used as a storage, authorities seized large quantities of medications, injections, and syringes. But more dangerously, hundreds of signed client forms were found, which included consent forms and medical examinations, indicating a large number of customers who may have been deceived, including minors.
The two suspected women have been charged with practicing medicine without a license, in addition to the 36-year-old woman being charged with physical abuse. Investigations are still ongoing under the supervision of the crime department of the Simmering city police.
