Healthcare organization Omring commits to artificial intelligence
The Dutch healthcare organization Omring is experimenting with artificial intelligence (AI) on a large scale. According to CEO Jolanda Buwalda, the use of new technology is necessary to address the major challenges in the Dutch healthcare sector. By deploying smart digital solutions, the organization hopes to reduce the workload for healthcare staff.
The healthcare sector in the Netherlands has long been struggling with a shortage of personnel and an increasing demand for care due to an aging population. Omring sees AI as an important 'colleague' that can provide support with administrative tasks and care planning. As a result, nurses and caregivers have more time for direct contact with clients.
In addition to relieving staff, Omring is investigating how AI can help improve the quality of care. Digital systems can, for example, help identify health risks in the elderly more quickly. This should lead to a more efficient way of working while keeping the client at the center.
The deployment of this technology is an example of the broader digitalization in Dutch healthcare. Although the technology is in full development, the organization emphasizes that the human aspect of care will always remain the most important. AI is therefore used as a tool to make work easier and more enjoyable for healthcare professionals.
