Videoland acquires Viaplay: Major changes for Dutch viewers
There is big news for streaming and sports fans in the Netherlands. Videoland is taking over the Dutch branch of Viaplay. With this move, Videoland aims to strengthen its position and grow into the most important streaming platform in the Netherlands. This represents a major shift for the market, as two major players are now merging.
This acquisition will bring many changes for viewers. In the future, Videoland subscribers will be able to watch major international sporting events. This includes Formula 1 and football matches from the British Premier League. Previously, these rights were held by Viaplay, but soon these sports will be available to follow via Videoland.
There is also news from Netflix for users in the Netherlands and Belgium. The streaming service is introducing stricter rules for the use of profiles. From now on, it is mandatory to set up a separate, unique email address for each profile within an account. Netflix hopes this will allow for better control over account sharing outside of a single household.
In addition to the business news, there is also attention for Hollywood in the Netherlands. Actors Tom Holland and Zendaya visited our country to promote the new Spider-Man film, 'Brand New Day'. Furthermore, a surprising guest can be seen in a new video for the film: top footballer Lionel Messi plays a small role alongside Tom Holland, which is generating a lot of enthusiasm online.
Finally, there is much to discuss in the world of sports and culture. Many Dutch celebrities are expressing their disappointment following the elimination of the Dutch national team from the World Cup, after a defeat against Morocco. For those who prefer going to the theater, there is more positive news: the stage show 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' has premiered in the Netherlands and is receiving rave reviews for its magical effects.
