Dutch youth are recreating our entire country in Minecraft
A group of enthusiastic Dutch youths is working on a special project: they are recreating the entirety of the Netherlands in the popular computer game Minecraft. Through the YouTube channel 'Geocraft,' they regularly share videos of their progress. These images show how well-known places from our country are being mimicked in detail within the virtual world.
The project is a massive undertaking in which the builders are attempting to replicate Dutch geography as accurately as possible. From large cities with famous buildings to smaller villages and landscapes; everything is finding a place in the digital version of the Netherlands. The result is impressive for many viewers to see.
Despite the great effort put in by the youths, they themselves indicate that the project will likely never be completely finished. This is because the Netherlands is constantly changing due to new construction projects and adjustments to the landscape. As a result, there is always work to be done for the builders to keep the virtual world up to date.
The Geocraft videos are attracting a lot of attention from other Minecraft players and interested parties. The project shows how creative young people can be with digital tools. For the time being, the group will continue building their own version of our country for a while to come.
