American Amanda celebrates ten years of living in Amsterdam
Amanda Crow (40) is originally from the U.S. state of Ohio, but she has been living in Amsterdam for ten years now. In an interview, she talks about her experiences in the Dutch capital. For her, Amsterdam is the place where she found the peace and space she missed in her home country.
In the United States, Amanda did not always feel at ease. She was looking for a place with more freedom and strong social safety. In Amsterdam, she found exactly what she was looking for: a city where she can walk the streets safely and where there is an open atmosphere. The alternative culture and the free spirit of the city especially appeal to her.
According to Amanda, the essence of Amsterdam is the opportunity to be yourself. She enjoys the different neighborhoods and the people she meets there. Compared to Ohio, life in the Netherlands is much less restricted for her. The city offers an environment in which creativity and individuality are valued.
After ten years, Amanda feels like a true Amsterdammer. She is an example of the many internationals who come to the Netherlands and decide to stay. Her story shows that Dutch culture and the safety of the cities still hold a great appeal for people from all over the world.
