Important warning: Listeria found in Maza hummus
An important warning has been issued for a popular product in Dutch supermarkets. The listeria bacterium has been detected in a hummus and spinach dip from the brand Maza. Consumers are urgently advised not to eat this product.
The listeria bacterium can lead to food poisoning. This is especially dangerous for vulnerable groups, such as pregnant women, the elderly, and people with a weakened immune system. For these groups, an infection can cause serious health problems.
The company Maza has since taken action to stop the spread of the bacterium. It is not yet entirely clear which specific stores the product was sold in, but customers who have the hummus with spinach at home should discard it immediately or return it to the store.
Therefore, please check the packaging in your refrigerator carefully if you have recently purchased hummus from the Maza brand. If you have already eaten the product and are concerned about your health, please contact your general practitioner.
