The Netherlands and Belgium join forces for better air defense
The Netherlands and Belgium are going to cooperate more closely in the field of defense. The two neighboring countries have agreed to jointly build a new air defense network. This system is intended to provide better protection for the airspace above both countries.
The new network will be a so-called 'multi-layered' system. This means that different types of missiles and radars will be used to stop threats from various altitudes and distances. By joining forces, the Netherlands and Belgium can invest more efficiently in modern technology.
The cooperation is a response to the changing security situation in Europe. Defense experts emphasize that it is important for countries in the region to better coordinate their military resources. This strengthens not only their own security, but also their position within NATO.
In the coming period, the two countries will further work out the details of the plan. The intention is for the new air defense to be fully operational in the long term. With this agreement, the Netherlands and Belgium hope to take an important step in strengthening their joint defense.
