Artificial intelligence secures a permanent place in Dutch healthcare
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Dutch healthcare sector is increasing at a rapid pace. Healthcare organization Omring is one of the parties leading this development. During the 'Zorg & ICT' conference, director Jolanda Buwalda emphasized that AI is not intended to replace healthcare workers, but to support them in their daily tasks.
According to Buwalda, the technology offers new opportunities to make care more efficient and personal. By using AI for administrative tasks or data analysis, nurses and caregivers have more time for direct contact with the client. This should lead to more targeted care that better meets the individual needs of patients.
The integration of AI in healthcare is a response to the growing workload and staff shortages in the sector. By using smart technologies, the healthcare sector hopes to maintain the quality of service despite the increasing aging population. Omring is currently experimenting with various applications to see how they can best contribute to the well-being of clients.
Although technological progress is promising, the human factor remains central. The healthcare sector in the Netherlands is investigating how AI can be deployed in a safe and ethical manner. Over the coming years, it will become clear how this digital 'colleague' will permanently change daily care practices in Dutch institutions.
