A2 motorway closed for hours following serious traffic accident
A serious traffic accident caused major problems on the A2 near Utrecht yesterday. Due to the collision, the motorway in the direction of Amsterdam was completely closed to all traffic for several hours. Emergency services, including a trauma helicopter, arrived at the scene to assist the victims.
The accident occurred during the afternoon rush hour, which immediately led to long traffic jams. Motorists were at a standstill for hours in some places. The police conducted an extensive investigation into the cause of the accident. Because of this investigation, the lanes had to remain closed for a long time, which led to significant delays for other traffic.
The traffic information service advised road users to avoid the area and to take alternative routes. It was not until the early evening that the road could be reopened. The police have not yet shared any details regarding the condition of the individuals involved or the exact cause of the collision.
This incident once again highlights how vulnerable the Dutch road network is during busy rush hours. Road users are urged to always remain alert in traffic and to keep a safe distance, especially when the roads are busy.
