Schouten Europe strengthens position with acquisition of Bobeldijk Food Group
The Dutch family business Schouten Europe has acquired Bobeldijk Food Group. Schouten is a well-known player in the market for vegetarian and plant-based products. With this acquisition, the company aims to further strengthen its position in the rapidly growing market for meat substitutes.
Schouten Europe, based in Giessen, was the first Dutch company to start selling meat substitutes based on plant proteins in 1990. Bobeldijk Food Group from Deventer has also been producing various plant-based and vegetarian products for many years. Both companies therefore have extensive experience in the production of sustainable food.
During this acquisition, Schouten received professional assistance from Squarefield. This is a financial advisor specializing in the international food sector. They guided Schouten throughout the entire process to successfully complete the purchase of Bobeldijk.
The market for meat substitutes is still growing rapidly in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. More and more consumers are increasingly choosing a day without meat or switching completely to a vegetarian diet. By joining forces, Schouten and Bobeldijk can better respond to the rising demand for innovative products.
The acquisition is an important step for the Dutch food industry. It shows that innovation in the field of plant-based food is central to the current economy. For the customers of both companies, little will change for the time being, but production capacity is likely to increase in the future as a result of the collaboration.
